Ancestral Trails on the Web

Ancestral Trails Historical Society, Inc. is a regional genealogical and historical society with a national membership. Through this website, we hope to reach members and researchers using the Internet. The pages will offer some articles from our printed quarterly and indexes to the tables of contents as well as every name indexes. Copies of articles may be obtained from the Society for the cost of copying. Links are provided on the home page of other area societies, libraries, and KYGenWeb as well as national search engines. ATHS also has a link for posting queries directly to the Internet. You can access the query page by clicking on the following highlighted words: The ATHS Query Forum. This page is sponsored by Roots Web. Note: ONLY family queries should be posted to the query board. ATHS staff will not monitor this board for membership or business matters. Answering queries is strictly voluntary amongst interested persons.

Ancestral Trails Historical Society had its beginnings in Radcliff, Kentucky on October 3, 1975. It was formed "to bring together persons who are researching in history and genealogy, and to promote fellowship and cooperation among them." Further, it was formed to foster, stimulate, and share ideas, information, methods, and practices in historical and genealogical research; to collect, preserve and make available to interested persons material on history and genealogy with special emphasis on Bullitt, Hardin, and Meade Counties, Kentucky and adjacent areas; to preserve and encourage others to preserve cemeteries, historic buildings and other sites; to encourage those officials in charge of public records and historical and genealogical collections to preserve them and make them readily accessible to interested persons. Over the years, those "adjacent" areas came to include Breckinridge, Edmonson, Grayson, Hart, Jefferson, LaRue, Nelson Counties, Kentucky and Harrison County, Indiana. One of the vehicles initiated to realize these goals was our Ancestral News, a quarterly magazine, first published in January, 1976.

MEMBERSHIP dues are $100.00 for Life Time Membership or $12.00 annually per individual or family payable on the membership anniversary date. Members will receive four issues of ANCESTRAL NEWS, free insertion of Queries, discounts on ATHS books and publications. Society meetings are generally held the first Friday of each month. Meetings are generally held at the Hardin County Public Library, 100 Jim Owen Drive, Elizabethtown, KY or in one of the neighboring Ancestral Trails Historical Society member counties. An up to date listing is contained in ANCESTRAL NEWS and on this site under the link, "Upcoming Events."
