Forgotten Cemeteries in Meade County, Kentucky

copied by Minnie Richardson

Editor's note: These listings were found in some unpublished material handed down to the present editors. Two volumes of Meade County cemeteries were compiled by one of our charter members, Rita Thompson of Brandenburg. These cemeteries were not included in either of those volumes. We hope that the publication of these listings will encourage researchers to submit other cemeteries that have not been published before. In the Spring 2006 issue we published the Goodhope Cemetery in Breckinridge County, of which many names had never been previously recorded. If you have copied a previously unpublished cemetery, please share with Ancestral News for publication in a future issue.

Editor's Note: The various spellings of Boon/Boone are recorded as given to us by Mrs. Richardson. Watch next issue for a story about Hiram C. Boone. The editor "googled" this man and found several interesting stories about this family. Hiram C. Boone may have been a cousin of Daniel Boone, the Kentucky hero. George L. Ridenour in Early Times in Meade County (reprinted by ATHS) states on p. 36 that Hiram C. Boone founded Boone Port in Little Bend. The "site of this landing has fallen into the river." On pg. 35 he states, "Very early in the history of Meade County Little Bend was settled by William Parr at Wolf Creek, Robert Hardin, Warren Hardin, Richard Willett and Hiram Boone." If other readers have information about Hiram C. Boone, please correspond with Ann Sipes, 180 Jerry Hardesty Rd., Ekron, KY 40117 or email at: Ann Sipes.
