Compiled by Mary Josephine Jones (1996).  Hardin County, the 15th county of Kentucky, was established in 1792.  From its original territory have been formed the entire counties of Ohio in 1798, Breckinridge in 1799, Grayson in 1810, Daviess in 1815, Meade in 1823 and LaRue in 1843.  In addition, Hardin County provided parts of the counties of Butler in 1810, Hart in 1819, Edmonson in 1824 and McLean in 1854.  Therefore, the marriage records of Hardin County are important to genealogical researchers interested in these counties.  The material was copied from the original records in the County Clerk’s office in Elizabethtown.  Grooms are listed in alphabetical order; and all names, except the persons performing the rites, are listed in the index.  Date listed is the date of the ceremony.  189 pages, soft cover, spiral bound, every-name index.

Compiled by Carolyn Wimp (2014).   Information was abstracted from Meade County, KY Guardian Bond Books and loose Guardian papers found at the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives in Frankfort.    Many of the bonds contain the name of the parents of the children, which is particularly beneficial to anyone researching someone who lived prior to 1850.  Guardians were appointed when a parent or parents were deceased or unable to care for the children.  Guardians were also appointed when someone was found incompetent to manage an estate or wanted to marry and was underage.  97 pages.  Every-name index.

Civil War Draft Registration in Central Kentucky

Compiled by Carolyn Wimp (2013).  Includes draft registrations for Breckinridge, Bullitt, Grayson, Hardin, Hart, LaRue, Meade and Nelson Counties in Kentucky.  The registrations occurred between July and October 1863 except for those of Hart County, which were done in February 1864.  Class 1 is comprised of all men subject to military duty between the ages of 20 – 35 and all unmarried men subject to military duty over age 35 and under age 45.  Class 2 is comprised all other men subject to military duty.  Information provided includes the name, age, occupation and birth place.  Marital status is also included for Class 1 registrants.  Listings are alphabetized by Class within each county.  136 pages.
